The Portuguese fish canning industry was born over 150 years ago and was the engine of the national economy and the livelihood of many families.

The first factory was created in Vila Real de Stº António (Algarve).

Usually the name of the canning brands is from a woman. They are said to represent the Platonic love of the canner. Gisela, Minerva, Tricana are some of them. Ours is Miss Can, daughter of a “varina”, almost a mermaid, with whom we fell in love.
